Happy Thursday! In honor of “TBT (Throwback Thursday), I am going to share a story of some of my very early experiences in the professional kitchen, ie: the very first time I stepped into a professional kitchen. Do you guys remember the very first time stepping into YOUR line of work? I know that you guys all work in varied fields. I’d love to hear about your guys’ first experiences when you got suckered into your industry. Was it what you expected? Were there apprehensions of first walking in that door? Was it the field you actually PLANNED on going into?
It was during the time when the economy was already down the toilet. The company I was working for was going through some hardships, clients were falling behind their payments, which affected my own income…I needed the extra pocket money and it did seem like an interesting experience to venture into. As I have mentioned a number of times, I did not have any goals of working in the kitchen when I first enrolled in culinary school. But somewhere down the line, I figured that it might not be too bad to at least see what it was like to actually work in the professional kitchen….at least once. Economic downfall and curiosity led me into…..THE DREADED PROFESSIONAL KITCHEN.
