This is our busboy, Victor’s specialty. We use meringues for dessert garnish. Sometimes when they break apart, Victor will come by and want to take it so he can powder it, put it in a plastic bag and show his friends so he can say, “hey look how much I got!” That is Victor making a “line” Oh and we have the razor handy for the morning bakers. They use it for the baguettes, so yeah…we do have razors laying around, conveniently for photos like these.
One of the guys asked if I can give him a ride. I jokingly said, “Yeah you can ride in my trunk.” He replied, “Really? okay open the trunk,” and he hopped in. A couple of guys came by and laughed hysterically. I didn’t really understand everything they said, but I caught “immigration” said in Spanish. Hey they said it, not me. We all laughed about it.
That is a meringue joint. Back when we used to make them into sticks, everyone was saying how they looked like a joint. I can’t tell you how many people posed like this with the meringue.
