It was a slow night at the restaurant, being Halloween and all. Everybody must have been out trick-or-treating or out partying or something. It was dead the first couple of hours, and then gradually started to pick up. But overall it was a slow night. We ended the night early. I got home an hour or two earlier than usual. I love the seldom nights like this.
I was still on caffeine high when I got home (I drink way too much coffee at work). And of course, as usual, I was behgopa! I made myself some Kimchi Jjigae. The cool autumn weather made me crave something soupy tonight. Kimchi jjigae is one of my favorite comfort foods.
But I really really need a kick in the ass to start going to the gym again. I just need that extra push. Gosh! In my 20’s and teens, I used to work out religiously. What in the world happened?! Well, in my defense, I do burn quite a few calories in the kitchen, -chopping (toning? Maybe just for my right arm lol), pot stirring, pan flipping, peeling, running around (cardio), heavy lifting (weight training)..seems like I get a well balanced work out each day I’m at work. Perhaps that is why I am not fatter than I am now. I would like to drop about 10-15 pounds, so I think it’s time to head to the gym soon and really start watching what I eat (the way I used to).
Look at my “food baby (a phrase I learned from Faye at Fayes Fork)” lol. It looks like I am in my second trimester with the “food baby”. I need to get rid of it soon.
In my younger days, a healthy lifestyle was geared towards looking fit. Now that I am older, I really feel like I need to lead a healthy lifestyle for the pure sake of my health. I think I have lived a fairly healthy lifestyle most of my life until I entered my 30s. Our overall health in our old age is a cumulative result of how we treated our bodies throughout our life. And hopefully, it’s not too late to start again now.
I guess finishing work early tonight left me with a bit more energy. After showering and eating while watching Arsenio, I had some time to reflect. I remember how good it used to feel when I was living a healthy lifestyle. I want that again. It’s not going to be easy!
