As I am getting older, I am finding myself in need of spending more and more money on skincare products. In my teens and twenties, I was able to just wash my face, apply toner and lotion (or not on some days when I was lazy), and the skin on my face still looked youthful and vibrant. My face did not require as much maintenance as it does today. I’m starting to have to worry about wrinkles, dry skin, sun spots, and dullness. I can’t seem to go a day without dealing with all the maintenance required. And although I do spend a fair amount of money on store-bought products, I also like to save some cash when I can by making my own skincare remedies. The awesome thing about this is that you can find a lot of what you need right in your own kitchen! I normally combine one or more ingredients with one another. But even by its self, the benefits of each of these natural ingredients, are amazing! There are countless items you can find in your kitchen (that aren’t all listed here). Here are some of my top favs, with links to my go to sites of using the various ingredients (P.S. I am not a dermatologist or skin care expert. These are just some of the things I, personally, have been using that I found to be fabulous):
Egg Whites– It’s not just for whipping meringues and macarons! When used as a facial, it works wonders! This is one of my favorite homemade remedies that I use on a daily basis. Sometimes I use it by itself, but most of the time I combine with other ingredients. As the egg whites dry, you will feel your skin tighten. Egg white facial is great for reducing premature wrinkles and acne (so it’s wonderful to use no matter what your age). It draws out the oil, so it’s great for oily skin. Personally, I love the way my skin feel right after..so soft and smooth.
